Description:
This course is a clinical course where students will be subjected to treat variety of patients who need minor oral surgery as well as dealing with the preparation of patients for major surgeries at the hospital
Intended learning outcomes:
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
Demonstrate sound understanding of patient assessment, laboratory investigations and clinical examination to reach diagnosis and treatment plan.
Discuss findings, diagnosis, and treatment plan options with the patient and to obtain informed consent from the patient before surgery.
Use local anesthesia and other procedures to control patients’ pain and anxiety.
Write prescriptions and the scientific use of medications.
Establish diagnosis and management of complications resulting from minor surgical procedures and appropriate patient follow-up and referral to specialist
Perform and/or assist in the followings: Extraction of single or multiple-rooted teeth, preprosthetic surgery, biopsy of soft tissue, transalveolar surgery, management of infections of dental origin, assessment and management of impacted teeth under close supervision and assist in surgical placement of dental implant.
Assist in management of patients with facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, benign and malignant tumors in the hospital.
