MOSHABAB AL ASIRYThe Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is one of the principal academic departments at the College of Dentistry at King Saud University. It encompasses two key specialties: Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. The department is supported by a distinguished team of 52 faculty members, lecturers, and demonstrators who collaboratively oversee the educational and clinical processes, ensuring high-quality training and community service. 

Academically, the department is committed to delivering comprehensive educational programs for undergraduate students, as well as advanced training for internship and postgraduate trainees. These programs are built on the latest scientific evidence and global standards. The department strives to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience through a supportive learning environment and well-equipped laboratories and clinics, enabling students to acquire the essential clinical and research skills needed to become competent healthcare professionals who meet the needs of the community. 

The department is also proud of its strong contribution to research activities. Faculty members consistently publish numerous studies each year in reputable local, regional, and international journals, reflecting the department’s academic standing and its impact on advancing knowledge in both Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. 

In collaboration with the Orthodontic Clinics, the department provides comprehensive care and follow-up for patients with cleft palate, cleft lip, and craniofacial anomalies. These patients, who come from various regions of the Kingdom, receive specialized medical care delivered by qualified and experienced healthcare professionals. 

The Pediatric Dentistry Division also offering comprehensive oral healthcare services to patients with medical conditions and special needs, whose cases require precise monitoring and advanced clinical intervention. This includes performing weekly procedures under general anesthesia and allocating a dedicated weekly clinic for individuals with special needs. Additionally, faculty members conduct regular visits to specialized centers to assess needs and contribute to the care of these important groups within our community. 

At the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, we remain committed to strengthening our educational, research, and community service missions in alignment with the goals of the College and the University, while continuing to provide outstanding healthcare and academic services to society.
