It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Vice Deanship for Development and Quality page at the College of Dentistry. At the College of Dentistry, we continuously work to improve and develop educational and administrative processes to achieve academic excellence, enhance the quality of outcomes, and meet the needs of students and faculty members.

Continuous improvement is a consistent approach that guides our work and decisions, stemming from our belief that excellence begins with building a supportive educational environment based on transparency, following best practices, and data-driven development.

The Vice Deanship for Development and Quality strives to enhance quality and accreditation standards in academic programs and activate a culture of quality within the college to ensure sustainable long-term improvement. We also believe that success in the quality journey is a shared responsibility, contributed to by everyone: students, faculty members, and administrative staff.

🎯 Scope of Work

The Vice Deanship oversees its affiliated units and committees, working on quality control and achieving academic accreditation requirements, as well as building capacity and developing skills within the college. It is also concerned with coordinating institutional development efforts, documenting information, enhancing communication and interaction with alumni and the community, and supporting the college's media and institutional presence.

📋 Vice Deanship Responsibilities

  • Establishing the concept of quality and spreading its culture at the college level.
  • Supervising the implementation of quality programs and institutional performance evaluation.
  • Supervising evaluation and academic accreditation work, planning to achieve and maintain it.
  • Preparing and implementing developmental and strategic plans for the college, vice deanship, and its units.
  • Studying challenges and obstacles in development and quality programs and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Identifying training needs for faculty members and college staff and coordinating their implementation.
  • Following up on the preparation of the college's annual report and submitting periodic reports to the Dean on work progress.
  • Supervising the update and development of the college website regarding the vice deanship and its units.
  • Supervising public relations and media, and supporting community service and the alumni unit.
  • Implementing matters referred to the vice deanship within the scope of development and quality, and tasks assigned by the Dean.

Units Under the Vice Deanship for Development and Quality

1 Quality and Academic Accreditation Unit

Scope of Work: Controlling and applying quality and academic accreditation standards, monitoring their achievement and maintaining them.

Unit Responsibilities:

  • Establishing the concept of quality and spreading its culture at the college level.
  • Supervising quality and accreditation policies and plans and developing them.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities and proposing necessary projects to achieve them.
  • Monitoring the implementation of quality programs and performance evaluation, and proposing the formation of work teams for initiatives and projects.
  • Implementing and following up on evaluation, measurement, and academic accreditation work.
  • Documenting efforts and results for all quality and accreditation activities.
  • Preparing reports on performance levels and beneficiary satisfaction.
  • Supporting academic departments with academic accreditation requirements and raising awareness about them.
  • Working to obtain and maintain accreditation.
  • Preparing and updating self-review standards.
  • Receiving internal and external accreditation teams.
  • Preparing Self-Study Reports (SSR) and reports related to developmental visit recommendations.

2 Skills Development Unit

Scope of Work: Developing and enhancing the skills of college staff through organizing lectures and workshops, and encouraging participation in Skills Development Deanship programs.

Unit Responsibilities:

  • Identifying training needs and programs required for skills development in the college.
  • Preparing development plans and strategies for the unit and supervising their implementation.
  • Identifying specialized training needs for faculty members and coordinating their implementation.
  • Motivating and encouraging college staff to attend courses, programs, and workshops.
  • Following up on the implementation of college staff development programs (faculty, administrators, technicians, and students).
  • Organizing necessary lectures and workshops in coordination with departments and the Continuing Education Unit.
  • Preparing periodic reports on unit activities and submitting them to the Vice Dean for Development and Quality.

3 Public Relations and Media Unit

Scope of Work: General supervision of media affairs, public relations, and the college website.

Unit Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the college website and continuously updating and developing its content.
  • Coordinating with departments, divisions, and units to update their pages on the college website.
  • Coordinating with the university portal and supporting deanships to support unit work.
  • Preparing a comprehensive plan for media and public relations in the college.
  • Organizing college events (conferences, seminars, various scientific events) and following up on their requirements.
  • Organizing delegation visits to the college and receiving them and arranging related programs.
  • Covering college occasions, activities, and programs in the media and documenting them.
  • Coordinating to enhance college communication with the public inside and outside the university.

4 Alumni Unit

Scope of Work: Communicating with college alumni, measuring their satisfaction level, requesting their suggestions, and supporting their participation.

Unit Responsibilities:

  • Direct communication with alumni and periodically surveying their opinions.
  • Encouraging alumni to participate in college activities and events.
  • Establishing a clear mechanism for unit work and defining its competencies and procedures.
  • Organizing periodic meetings for alumni and introducing them to the Alumni Unit and its objectives.
  • Motivating alumni to support the college financially and morally and informing them of its achievements.
  • Measuring alumni satisfaction and informing relevant departments/parties of survey results.
  • Preparing periodic reports on unit work and submitting them to the Vice Dean for Development and Quality.

5 Community Service Unit

Scope of Work: Supervising the monitoring, organizing, and documenting of community service activities at the college in all forms and working on their development.

Unit Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the monitoring, organizing, and documenting of community service activities and their development.
  • Motivating college staff to participate in community service activities.
  • Establishing a clear mechanism for the organization, documentation, and follow-up process.
  • Following up on documenting activities (consultations, treatment services, lectures, etc.) according to the approved mechanism.
  • Issuing participation certificates for provided activities according to approved procedures.
  • Receiving and documenting participation forms in community service activities.
  • Preparing reports on community service activities and submitting them to the Vice Dean for Development and Quality.
  • Evaluating the college's participation in community service activities and events.
