Description:
        This course is a series of lectures extending for one semester. Exodontia (teeth extraction): which covers sterilization, control of infection, the different methods for extraction (intra-alveolar and trans-alveolar), the used instruments (forceps and elevators), suture types and materials. Also, it includes indications and contraindications    for teeth extraction, postoperative instructions, complications which may occur during   or after extraction. 
Intended learning outcomes:
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
Demonstrate sound knowledge of patients suitability for all minor surgical procedures, understand principles of systematic history taking, including detailed medical history, thorough physical examination and the proper use of investigations. 
Identify the indications and contra indications for teeth extraction.
Describe the intra-alveolar technique and the principles of forceps and elevators use.
Describe the trans-alveolar technique for extraction.
Compare the methods and techniques employed to instruments infection control measures, sterilization, asepsis and disinfection.
Relate the complications encountered during teeth extraction or immediately following the extraction to its predisposing factors.
Identify the appropriate technique for tooth extraction in each case depending on its situation.
Formulate a treatment plan for complications encountered during teeth extraction.
