Description:
This course is a series of lectures and clinics extending for one semester.  In this course the students will be exposed to more minor oral surgical procedures and deal with medically compromised patients who need minor oral surgery.
Intended learning outcomes:
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
Demonstrate sound understanding of clinical oral diseases which require surgical intervention and name the different investigations used to reach proper diagnosis and outline the proper surgical treatment plans.
Classify and demonstrate the diagnosis of different types of facial fractures including mandible and midface and outline treatment principles.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of diagnosis of dentofacial deformities and list different surgical techniques used for management.
Identify basic principles of dental implantology, name dental implants components and types. Compare different types of bone grafts used with dental implants. Outline advanced surgical implant techniques.
Apply proper principles of local anesthesia and exodontia techniques. Deal with medically compromised patients, communicate effectively with patients, draw out a treatment plan and execute it by the help of his instructor.
