Description:
This course is a clinical course in which the students will learn the proper management of maxillofacial patients including emergency and elective cases.
Intended learning outcomes:
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
Take proper history and do thorough examination of the surgical patient.
Asses both the surgical, as well as the general medical condition of the patient.
Deal with the hospitalized patient in the Accidents and Emergency Department,  maintain  the ABCs ,  control  hemorrhage and pain and manage facial injuries.
The student should be responsible from his patient and prepare him for surgery; prepare the necessary investigations, consultations and finish the steps make him ready him for operation.
The student shall be able to anticipate diagnosis and manage complications resulting from the surgical procedures.
The student shall be able to perform the following procedures: complicated extraction of single or multi-rooted, non-impacted teeth; impacted and buried, pre-prosthetic surgery; biopsy for both bone and soft tissue lesions, management of complicated orofacial infections of dental origin. reduction and fixation of mandibular fractures alone and or  under  supervision
